AISB GATE 2023

Our third Exchange, AISB GATE, was hosted by the art and design team at the American School of Budapest.

Set within Budapest’s rich architectural and cultural landscape, the experience included a photo walk along the Danube, explorations of Art Nouveau buildings, a visit to a historic cemetery, and a street art workshop that culminated in a GATE mural in the city’s graffiti district.

Workshops ranged from paper dress making and costume design to digital illustration, analogue photo manipulation, set design, and an exploration of an AI art playground. Studio sessions included making ink from natural materials and needle felting.

The Exchange was defined as much by informal gatherings, shared meals, and evening conversations as by the workshops and city explorations. Teachers bonded in the thermal baths, over Hungarian food, and on evening walks along the river.
