GATE Pop-ups
A global community meeting in real time, wherever art is happening.
What are GATE Pop-ups?
GATE Pop-ups are informal, community-led meet-ups for art educators attending exhibitions, biennales, and other art events around the world.
They are created by members of the GATE community who want to share an experience with other art teachers while travelling or attending the same event.
Pop-ups are simple by design. There is no programme, no facilitation, and no formal structure. Just a shared time and place to meet, connect, and experience art together.
How they work
Anyone in the GATE community can organise a Pop-up.
To do so, you simply:
-
choose an art event you are attending
-
set a time and meeting place
-
complete the GATE Pop-up form
Once submitted, the Pop-up will be shared with the wider community through the GATE website and mailing list.
Each organiser may also include useful links such as:
-
event websites
-
ticketing information
-
suggested areas to stay or explore
Participants are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and entry to events.

Where Pop-ups happen
GATE Pop-ups take place anywhere in the world where art is being experienced.
They often form around:
-
biennales
-
major exhibitions
-
art fairs
-
museum openings
-
design and cultural festivals
Each Pop-up is shaped by its location, timing, and the people who choose to gather.
Why Pop-ups?
GATE Pop-ups extend the Exchange beyond its annual gathering.
They create moments of connection between educators who may otherwise never meet, building relationships through shared experiences of art in different contexts.
They are informal, flexible, and community-driven, reflecting GATE’s belief that learning happens everywhere people come together to look, think, and make meaning.
